PROMOTION - POSTCARD and BANNERS

Children at the schools in Haukivuori and Hiirola have painted about the Savo-rail. Their paintings are beautiful and interesting. They show how children experience the railway in their imagination and reality.

AREFS taide ja kulttuuri ry is a small non-profit organization with a challenging art program for children and rural communities.
The budget of the association is based on private contribution, (business) sponsorship and grants by local, regional and national cultural organizations and governments.
In cooperation with SAVON-RADAN ryhmä, AREFS taide ja kulttuuri ry is planning to produce series of postcards, banners and flyers to be able to execute their art and cultural programs.
Through the purchase of our postcards you contribute to the art program of AREFS taide ja kulttuuri ry.

The proceeds from the sale will be used for:
- the events during the SAVON-RATA 125 year celebration
- to continue the art program at the schools
- to create a budget for the planned publication TÄMÄ ON MINUN TAKAPIHANI - THIS IS MY BACKYARD

Every 100 sales covers the budget of an art activity during the SAVON-RATA 125 year or  series of art workshops in the schools in 2014-2015.

The railway has been an important phenomenon in the region of Mikkeli. In 1889 it was possible to travel between the isolated rural regions to the economic and commercial central areas of the South. Through the Savo-line this part of the country got an economic impulse.
The line has had over 30 stops between Kouvola and Pieksämäki. In 2014 only 3 are left and also these are planned to be reduced to increase the speed of the line with a few minutes.
The future of the region is important for children, they have to build their live and career and need facilities to be connected with other parts of the country.

On Saturday May 3rd Marja de Jong presented during the demonstration at Haukivuori railway station Green Party EU-parliament member Tarja Cronberg the first copies of the postcards the SAVO-RAIL concerning.
